How to lose dead weight naturally....my guide to detoxing with kefir and flaxseed.

It's been a while but I'm back blogging as part of my natural progression in this thing called life, I am working on my body, so I have decided to write about the results I have achieved and also the road to get there and my personal method. I am not a dietitian or fitness instructor but I did do hours of research before I went on my diet and it has worked wonders for me. I feel great and I look great inside and out. I know that a few of my friends have asked me what diet plan I am on and so I have decided to write a detailed description of what I have done to get to where I am at now......yes, I was fat by my own perception and standards and I was not happy with what I saw so I decided to do something about it, there were many things happening in my life before I started my diet but that is another story for another post. This is all about my weight lost and how I went from being overweight to being a healthy weight for my height.

Before starting my plan to lose enough weight to maintain a healthy weight, I did research, lots of it, there are a lot of bullshit programs out there, including fasting which shocks your body into losing a lot of weight very quickly and you can quickly gain weight after doing this because your body believes that there is scarcity of food, it tends to hold onto energy and stores this as fat but intermittent fasting can help.I have seen people who go on a diet and they are often miserable and while some swear by it, I knew it was not the method for me because I love food too much! :)

I realized that in order to lose weight, my body needed to be more efficient, years of partying and junk food would likely make it an uphill battle for me to lose weight, if I do something, I like to do it efficiently so based on items I saw online. You really will struggle to lose weight if your gut health is inefficient, no matter how many hours you hit the gym, your progress may be handicapped by your microbiome health.I knew I had to do a colon cleanse first.

I have highlighted some of the reasons why I believed my body needed it below and some positive and beneficial effects which I can personally vouch for.

The main reason for me was - Excessive body weight, alterations in lipid metabolism. My cholesterol was pretty high. I also felt low energy and was due to a slow metabolism to help me metabolize fat more efficiently.

The cleansing - Ingredients :

Kefir - Probiotic

Kefir is a fermented drink, a type of runny yogurt usually made with milk granules that contain living micro-organisms that help keep the bacteria in your gut healthy. So this stuff is potent and pretty healthy. It reminds me of something called "taroro" from my island which is made from fermented coconut. I believe that it also has the same effect although never really tested.

This drink actually contains probiotic organisms help to cleanse your insides and balance out the natural intestinal flora as it contains good bacteria that destroys pathogens and restores your digestion and boosts your immune system. It helps removes accumulated toxins and unwanted deposits and promotes colonies of good bacteria growing as the balance in your tummy is restored, you will notice more energy and a better overall feeling of well being.

I searched everywhere for this and found it stocked in the yogurt isle at my local countdown supermarket. The brand is called "tummy love" and it comes in different flavors but I chose to go with the natural non flavored one after looking at the sugar content of the honey, blueberry and passionfruit flavor.

Flaxseed/ Linseed - Fiber

Adding seeds in the mix, these seeds absorb the kefir and other moisture and expand in the colon to clean the walls of the colon and aid in the passage of stool, so you will find that you get very regular poo's and this is good, I never knew that a good shit was really good shit! linseed is rich in a type of omega 3 called ALA which may help relieve sufferers of IBS. If you colon is not working properly you get symptoms affecting the rest of your body like a disrupted metabolism which causes excessive weight, also because more toxins are trapped in your body you can have issues with your liver and kidneys.

You can find linseed at countdown as well, if you find the linseed is not as palatable you can get LSA which is linseed, sunflower seeds and almonds. I find this works well and has the added nutrients of sunflower seeds and almonds which is a tastier mix than just linseed but still gives you the same effect.

Method:

So after finding these two magical ingredients, I set myself a goal for a month, I had to give up something I loved doing, drinking.....I made up my mind not to drink alcohol for a whole 30 days! Alcohol kills the micro organisms in your gut which counteracts the above ingredients. I was determined to do this so I did stop drinking and so I started with the following routine.

Breakfast - 100ml of Kefir and 4 tablespoons of Linseed or LSA

Have this mix in the morning like cereal, you can add your favorite fruit for a bit of natural sweetness. It is important not to have sugar which means no fizzy drinks or anything with processed sugar. Sugar feeds the bad bacteria in your gut and the bad bacteria releases chemicals that make your body crave more sugar. It is a vicious cycle!I found cutting sugar was easy but for some it may not be that easy to do so if you can't give up sugar, just cut it out of your diet slowly, sugar will make it more difficult to shed weight in the first month so cutting it out of your diet will ensure you get great results.

If you substitute this, you will lose weight for sure, without even doing anything, you won't lose a lot of weight but you will definitely shed a few kilos. This is the first step to being able to efficiently lose the rest of your weight since once your digestion is working more effectively, you can then focus on exercise and other aspects of your weight loss.

Good luck and all the best!
